Last Night: A Very Purple Sneakers New Years!

Posted in News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 1, 2010 by keelykov

How are you ringing in the Last Night of 2010? Over the past five years Purple Sneakers and FBi have joined forces to bring the biggest and baddest New Years Eve shindig in Sydney. And this year, they are at it again with LAST NIGHT: A New Years Eve House Party & Official FBi 94.5 Fundraiser.

This year though, there are a few changes. Instead of sweating balls in the multi level Manning Bar, the event is going back to its roots in the newly renovated, air conditioned comfort of the Gaelic Club.

Here’s what the event reps had to say about it:

“This coming New Years Eve sees FBi 94.5 and Purple Sneakers shining a spotlight on what it’s all about: the local music community partying in a well loved local music establishment with up and coming acts who will all become household names over the coming years.

FBi 94.5 will also be selecting one brand new band from their monthly Open Day to kick off the night. Open Day is the station’s longest running initiative and has been responsible for discovering some of the FBi’s favourite acts.

And most importantly, rather than being just another NYE party, Last Night: A New Years Eve House Party will be an Official FBi 94.5 Fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the Sydney station. So not only are partygoers getting a super cheap party right in the heart of Sydney (and right next to Central Station) they are doing something positive by helping FBi 94.5 remain the vibrant hub of the local independent music scene.”

Sleigh Bells announce 2011 headline shows

Posted in Gigs, International Artists, News, Tours with tags , , , , on October 5, 2010 by keelykov

Sleigh Bells have announced they will perform two headline shows January 2011 in Melbourne and Sydney.

Amidst numerous attempts to classify their sound, one thing is for sure – Sleigh Bells are unabashedly, irresistibly loud. Producer Derek Miller’s synth-heavy beats and pounding riffs are undeniable, complemented and perfectly off-set by Alexis Krauss’ melodic chants to form a sound that is genre-less; a melting pot of music that is distinctively Sleigh Bells.

Sleigh Bells headline show will also feature a DJ set from Vampire Weekend’s Chris Baio, performances from Sydney’s electronic newcomers Seekae and sets from indie party-starters the Purple Sneakers DJs.

Frontier Members pre-sale from 12 noon AEDT, Tue 12 October to 12 noon AEDT, Wed 13 October

General on sale from 9am local time, Friday 15 October

Friday 7 January           Prince Bandroom, Melbourne                    18+
