Splendour In The Grass 2011 line up leaked?

Splendour In The Grass line up fake?

Is this the greatest line up to grace our fair country, or is this just some jerk with photoshopping skillz trying to make us cry? I’m kind of going to have to side with the latter.

The camera phone picture of the alleged Splendour 2011 line up was posted by user Sneaker1010 on FasterLouder’s Unofficial Splendour In The Grass forum.

With the picture, Sneaker1010 said:

“in my friend’s office, who is in same building as designers of this year’s splendour artwork + website. i have seen the 80% lineup confirmed and tried to take a picture.

i will def get in trouble for this: eek:”

For those who can’t read good, Splendour 2011 “Line Up”:

The Avalanches
The Decemberists

Oh Mercy
The Chemist

+ more to be announced

Yeah – A little ridiculous. But if it’s true it’s amazing. There is some merit to this though, as there is a heavy quota of Dew Process bands on the bill, like Delta Spirit, Grouplove & Freelance Whales, all who one would expect to populate the actual line up. I don’t know, Paul Simon and Kanye on the same bill? I’d say someone is on crack – Or it’s mock text.

What do you think?

Addition: Yep; it’s a fake. Promoters have denied the poster’s better-than-an-orgasm claims and even poked fun at its less than awesome design.

Promoters said in a statment:

“Aside from the alleged artwork looking terrible, at this point in time those speculating on line up have got it way wrong.”

Coachella 2011 line up announced

Holy galvanized steel Batman – this year’s Coachella line up is off the proverbial hook!

The three day festival held in Indio California from 15th-17th April 2011 will be host to some of the best damn indie artists gracing our radio at present. Want proof? Check out the mammoth line up poster!

Coachella 2011

So while the headliners are pretty good (or fucking awesome in Arcade Fire’s case) it’s the tail end that really gets my heart a-racin’. Bright Eyes, a reformed Death From Above 1979, Cold War Kids, Delta Spirit, Tallest Man On Earth, Mariachi El Bronx, Freelance Whales & The Strokes put the rad in radical.

Australia has made a pretty decent contribution to the line up this year with Cut Copy, Tame Impala, Gypsy & The Cat, Empire Of the Sun, The Presets & Angus & Julia Stone all representing the Green and Gold.

Dew Process land Freelance Whales

Posted in International Artists, News with tags , on June 21, 2010 by keelykov

Dew Process have announced the signing of New York experimental pop five-piece Freelance Whales.

Freelance Whales met through a bashful ad on online messageboard Craig’s List posted by their frontman Judah Dadone simply saying “Would anyone like to interact with this sound, or be a part of it?” accompanied by a single track. 50 interviews and three months of schlepping across New York later, the band of multi-instrumentalists had formed with Kevin Read, Doris Cellar, Jake Hyman and Chuck Criss completing the circle.

Freelance Whales are not ones to follow the usual path of a band’s discovery. They play everything from theramin, to banjo, to glockenspiel, to watering can and anything else in between. Their first shows were busking on the streets of the Lower East Side, followed by a residency at Farm Colony – a dilapidated geriatric ward in Staten Island, where the chill of winter nights seeped in and ghosts were rumoured to haunt the grounds.

With their debut album, “Weathervanes”, completed, Freelance Whales had the New York crowd at CMJ all a flutter. The band inked a deal with a US indie label French Kiss/Mom & Pop, before Freelance Whales blew away SXSW and the Dew Process team and we welcomed them to the burgeoning fold.

“Weathervanes” is due out on Dew Process in September.
